To win the respect of management and colleagues, you need to adhere to the rules of conduct, which have developed more than one generation.

1. Greet your colleagues

The first thing to do when you enter an office is to say hello to everyone. In open-space offices, it would not be appropriate to greet everyone in person – a general greeting is sufficient.

2. Observe corporate traditions

If it is customary to celebrate birthdays in the team, you should not ignore this tradition. The same applies to corporate parties. Otherwise employees may think that their company is unpleasant and may be seriously offended.

3. Do not gossip at work.

Even if you really want to discuss the CEO’s move to Europe, you cannot be completely sure that tomorrow such a conversation will not become public.

4. Eat lunch in a designated area

Eating in the workplace does not look very aesthetically pleasing. And that’s not to mention the odors that everyone in the office has to smell.

Leaving dirty dishes behind is as unacceptable as snacking near a computer.

6. Follow the dress code

Even if the official dress code is not spelled out in the employment contract, you should not come to the office in beach shorts or a miniskirt.

7. Do not overuse perfume

The scent of toilet water should be unobtrusive and slightly subtle. Pungent scents are rarely pleasant to others.

8. Keep order in your workplace

To establish yourself as a disciplined and meticulous employee from the first days, the desk should not be chaotic.

9. Keep your phone on silent

Constant phone calls distract both the caller and his or her colleagues from work. Therefore, at work – only silent mode.

10. Reduce telephone conversations on personal topics

It is better to discuss personal matters at lunchtime. Colleagues do not have to listen to each other’s problems. It is uninteresting and unethical.

11. Refrain from office romances

First, in such a case there can be no question of objectivity at work. And if the affair ends with a scandal, it is unlikely to work together without problems.

Careful handling of office equipment – the key to on-time submission of reports, successful meetings and presentations.

13. Perform your job duties

Disregard of your official duties, interest only in getting the money, tardiness – all these will not remain unnoticed by the management.

14. Maintain neutrality with subordinates

15. Take care of your image

You should not forget to control your social networks. Otherwise the image of a diligent employee may be ruined by immodest photos from the last vacation.

Expensive watches and shoes, which cost as much as a whole salary of some colleagues, are better reserved for another occasion. Wearing them is usually regarded as bragging about high earnings.

17. Don’t be late

Tardiness is not liked anywhere. At work, because of such inaccuracies can disrupt an important meeting or conference.

18. Always be in touch during working hours

Keep your phone on during business hours. If it is not possible to pick up the phone at the moment, it is acceptable to call back at the first opportunity.

19. Do not be afraid to go on sick leave

No one will appreciate the dedication of an employee with the flu. Everyone will be afraid to get infected, and the productivity of such a specialist will be equal to zero.

20. Do not take someone else’s things without asking

Although all office supplies are usually in plain sight, it’s still better to ask before you use someone else’s something. And do not forget to return it later.

21. Help your co-workers whenever possible

It is normal to help employees in solving a difficult problem, to share an idea. A team in which mutual assistance works is the most productive.

22. Don’t fix your hair in the workplace

It is also not a good idea to paint your lips, powder your hair or correct your manicure. It is better to choose the dressing room for such actions.

23. Don’t be greedy

Sharing tea or stationery with your coworkers is as natural as asking someone for it. Greedy people are not liked by others.

24. Watch your speech

Even if it is normal for someone to use non-literal language in his speech, it is better to leave this habit behind the office door.

25. Leave outerwear in the checkroom

This rule is especially relevant in the cold season, when clothes take up a lot of space, and often even wet from snow and rain.
